Marble Madness Review by: xfighter1138 - 9/10
Marble Madness is an already classic arcade game which would later be ported to multiple consoles and mostly have the same treatment and reception (Not the same for the handheld ports) as it did in the arcade. Unfortunately I never got to play the arcade version, considering how it was mostly taken away from arcades and it's sad considering how you could use the trackball peripheral to control the marble which Atari Games did for a lot of their games especially with the handlebar controls for Paperboy.

The game's plot is basically you controlling the marble that moves on a isometric M.C. Escher like tiles and getting from Point A to Point B before the time limit runs up. While it might sound easy at first, the game will make you have a good sense of timing and controlling. Multiple enemies will try to stop this lone marbles journey from crossing the finishing point. Such as a black marble who will try to push you off the marble track, green springs that will try to suck you up, and a lot of environmental hazards. However, if you finished the stage quickly, the remaining time will add over to the next stage.

What makes this game really fun is how simple but challenging the basics are. You have to make sure that you're in a good angle and make sure that you avoid enemies and be fast enough for the time limit. I think a problem that the game could have is that once you know how to master it then it'll be a piece of cake to finish. And the game takes around 10 minutes if you know what to do. However if you don't, it'll take you days to finish. You could think of it as a game that you would play to waste time. And even if you do finish it, you can always do a Marble Race with another friend. I recommend trying this out once we have netplay on here.

The graphics in this game are amazing, especially the M.C. Escher inspired tiles. But that's just not it, the claymation 3-D like enemies and enviroment also make this game breathe alive. The music theme is also excellent, and it could be one of the best tunes for the NES.

At the end Marble Madness is a fun game that will take time for you to play, it's a game in which you just pick up and play.

I give it a 9/10

Marble Madness Game Description

A port of the arcade game. The idea is deceptively simple: Guide a marble down a path without hitting any obstacles or straying off the course. The game is viewed from an isometric perspective, which makes it harder to stay focused on the direction the ball is to follow. There are tight corridors to follow and enemies to avoid. There is a 2-player mode in which players must race to the finish; otherwise you're racing against the clock.

I gave it my all in that last Speed Run. I think I can finish in less than 3.5mins but it would have to be perfect

The last level is no joke. You must understand all the different surfaces and how they affect movement. Anyway strategy will only take you so far. To get through the last S pattern it takes a lot of practice.

Brotip: If you're using a PC controller, play this game with the joystick. It'll make controlling it seem much smoother. And don't even get me started on what it's like to play with a keyboard.

Dang Kruger. Didn't notice that if you had beaten it just 1 second quicker, you would have had the top score in this game. That hurts.
